Everything we do at UNC Wesley is designed to help you grow in your faith and grow into the person God is calling you to be. To do that, we teach the story of God’s ongoing activity in the world, give you opportunities to serve God and others with your gifts, and surround you with a community who will love you and help you hear God’s calling on your life.
Learning God’s Story...
At its heart, being Christian is about finding your unique role in God’s ongoing work of healing the world. To do that, we have to keep learning more and more about who God is and what God is doing. The place we start is always going back to Scripture, time and time again. We don’t read Scripture to find proof texts to prop up our beliefs. Instead, we read Scripture to learn the overarching character and nature of God and to open our eyes to how God is still at work all around us.
Using our Gifts...
It’s hard to wrap our minds around the fact that the God of the universe—not only can use our gifts—but wants to use our gifts to heal the world. Sometimes we have to experience that before we can believe it. That’s why Wesley is a place where you can use your gifts: helping lead worship, playing or singing in our praise band, helping plan retreats and social events, joining our various ministry teams, getting involved with our mission partnership in Puerto Rico, and more.
Wesley Community...
Navigating college isn’t always easy. Figuring out what God wants you to do with your life isn’t always easy. That’s why Scripture says we were made for community. At Wesley, we call it Big Wesley Love—your friends who will help you get through the ups and downs of college while helping you find your passions and gifts. Community infuses everything we do, from worship to social events to small groups, from “official Wesley events” to late-night conversations in our Wesley Building to meeting with our staff. We celebrate together. We laugh together. We cry together. We help each other. We love each other.
Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 6:45pm at University UMC.
