Wednesday, October 18 – Union Grove UMC
Union Grove UMC is a good example of a rural United Methodist Church. Methodists have been gathering for worship on the grounds of Union Grove since the early 1800s and formally organized as a congregation in 1846. The church is located in the heart of Orange County’s traditional dairy country. Some members of the church are descended from ancestors who received deeds to their land from the King of England.

Friday, October 20 – Camp Chestnut Ridge
Opened in 1959 as a Methodist Camp, Chestnut Ridge offers summer camp and retreat opportunities. Their camp includes a farm and horse program.

Saturday, October 20 – Duke Memorial UMC & UNC Football
In the late 1880s, Durham was growing quickly due to the tobacco and cotton industries. To serve the growing population of the “West End” of Durham, members of Durham Methodist Church (now Trinity Methodist Church) worked together to found the Main Street Church (later renamed Duke Memorial). Today, Duke Memorial is known for their work in Durham. The Mobile Market Food Distribution is their largest, monthly program, partnering with Calvary Baptist Church and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Sunday, October 21 – Orange UMC and Wesley Dinner & Worship
A small group of Methodists began gathering under grapevines on the site of Orange UMC in 1832. Their firs building was a log cabin built that same year on 4 acres of donated land. This is the church that Linda Piper and her husband, Mark, attend.
Wesley Dinner & Worship is our weekly worship offering for students.
