Freshley group

This group is designed for First-Years (those Fresh to Wesley, get it?) to share the common views, goals, and frustrations of the first year of college, while exploring 15 Bible passages that are key for understanding who God is, what God is like, what God is up to, and what we’re called to do in response.

Wednesdays at 7 PM in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton's), led by Katie and Hailey.


Upperclass Groups

These groups are designed to deal with topics that each group chooses as a group.

Men's

Wednesdays at 6 PM in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton's), led by Dawson and Justis.

Women's

Mondays at 7 PM in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton's), led by Linnea and Ann Marie, studying “A Year of Biblical Womanhood,” how a liberal woman, intrigued by the traditionalist resurgence, pursued different Biblical ideals of womanhood and learned how to read Scripture more deeply in the process.

Tuesdays at 6:30 PM in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton's), led by Hannah and Becca, studying “Present Over Perfect” leaving behind frantic for a simpler, more soulful way of living.

Contemporary issues and social justice

This group is designed to discuss how God wants us to live and react in the wake of situations that didn't exist in Bible times, especially in light of social justice.

Mondays at 5:30 PM in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton's), led by Delaney and Tate.


Conversation groups

These groups meet for a set number of weeks to have conversations on a specific topic.

forming adult relationships w/ Parents

Mondays, 7:45 PM from Jan. 28 through Feb. 25 in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton’s), led by Sarah and Anna, this group explores the trials and tribulations of how relationships with parents change during college and how to begin building adult relationships with your parents. Special guest parent, Linda Piper, who has—and is continuing—to navigate this transition with her own children.

the good place, navigating being a woman in college

Thursdays, 7:15 PM* from Jan. 17-Feb. 7 in the Wesley Loft (on Franklin, up the alley steps next to Sutton’s), led by Duke Divinity School Interns Becca and Rachel, this group explores what it means to be a woman on a college campus—the highs, the lows, the pressures, the joys, and everything in between.

*The start time is approximate as this group follows Thursday Night Dinners. Come early for a free meal each week in basement of University UMC at 6:15 PM!
